I'm keen on a status run and I need to travel to Barcelona. Is there any way to cash in on the VA 2x SC offer (given the travel has to be on VA metal)?
Bit of a tricky one as VA international outside of Pacific is only HK and LAX. Perhaps an around the world option with VA/VS combo MEL or SYD to HKG/LHR/LAX and back to MEL or SYD. Do a side trip from LHR to BCN. This way you earn status for the whole trip but double status on the AUS to HKG and LAX to AUS.

Id say the best way would be to travel eastward to LAX on VA metal, then make use of a partner airline to get to Europe on the relevant SC earn rate.
