I'm looking at a trip to/from the USA. United website shows the long haul to be United Polaris between MEL-LAX and SFO-SYD, do they still fly 2-2-2 on some dreamliners and polaris on the other on these sectors??
787-9s on Australian routes are 2-2-2. The 787-9s have Polaris 'soft product' - amenities, menus, bedding (which is the best I've experienced in J - the gel pillows are amazing). The actual Polaris seat will start hitting the -9s in 2020. Other international routes, US - Asia, EU, NZ, have the new Polaris seat already. UA has a website dedicated to Polaris somewhere where you can see which planes have the new seat, and where the new Polaris lounges have opened.

If you want to fly true Polaris, you can go via AKL. They fly the 77W AKL-SFO.
