I am a Qantas FF, flying Brisbane- KL - Paris (and return) with Malaysian Airlines. Do I qualify for Qantas FF points under the one world alliance ? Thanks.
You will earn QF FF points, but the earn rates are less generous compared to other Oneworld carriers. Depending on your booking class, you will earn:
Class AF (First): 1 per mile, Class CDZ (Business): 0.75 per mile, Class YBHKMLV (Economy & Discount Economy): 0.25 per mile
One-way miles between BNE & CDG is about 10,300 miles, so an economy class return trip will earn you about 5150 points (not very much at all). If you are after Qantas status credit, stick with QF FF. But If you are interested in accuring points towards award tickets, sign up with Malaysia Airlines Enrich Program as it provides more superior earn/redemption rates. For instance, a full ecomony return trip between Australia and Europe would have earned enough Enrich points (1 per mile) to redeem a one-way Australia-KL ticket or 2 selective short-haul intra-Asia flights.
Joing Enrich would allow you to use the points towards MAS FF. You can use Enrich points on other OneWorld partner flights but you have to redeem them via MAS Enrich phone service, unlike using QF FF points for online bookings.
Frank, may I ask, what is your objective accruing points/miles on the Qantas programme?
Even though your accrue Qantas frequent flyer points at a marginal rate when flying on Malaysia Airlines, you will still continue to earn status credits. On BNE/KUL at 4000 miles, you will accrue 30 status credits and KUL/CDG at 6400 miles, 40 status credits. So a round trip gives you 140 status credits which will go towards reaching Silver/Gold/Platinum status. Just make sure you travel on YBHKMLV inventory as detailed by enojet. I'm assuming you'll be flying in economy. If you're travelling on Business the status credits will be 120 & 160 respectively. On First they are 180 and 240.

Thanks Enojet. If I join Malaysia Airlines Enrich Program, am I still able to claim the points on Qantas?
