good afternoon

I was considering getting an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black for an upcoming overseas trip, however I noticed the rental car excess cover / collision excess only applies to ....... "when you hire a car from a major car rental company in Australia" .
Under the terms of the policy, the cover commences ....... "under this section begins when you leave your home in Australia to start your trip and ends when you return to your home in Australia or when the period of insurance ends, whichever happens first".

Has anyone else noticed this, or I am misreading something?

thanks John

"when you hire a car from a major car rental company in Australia"

I can't see this wording anywhere in the Policy document - all I can see is the definition as

Rental vehicle

Any car, campervan, motorcycle or boat you rent from a licensed rental company and for which you have a signed contract with that company.

Do you have a clause or page number - and - are you looking at the Premium card insurance booklet?

hi Ricardo

I downloaded a document - PREMIUM CARDS - INSURANCES dated 11th April 2018, the reference to Australian registered car is on page 75. There is also a note on the website under the card offers that states "travel within Australia" for the rental excess cover

OK - makes a little more sense now - you had me worried as I rely on this card for a lot of my insurance.

There are a couple of master policies in effect under the insurance ANZ provides. One of them is for International travel and the other is for Australian Domestic travel (Rental Excess Master Policy).

The Travel Master Policy has its own set of definitions and requires you to be on a trip overseas. I suspect they have done it this way so as to (legitimately) exclude all of the other cover from an Australian trip

hi Ricardo, would you mind looking at your card T&C's, this is what I found in the definitions in the master policy dated April 2018, note ANZ changed insurers from QBE to Allianz:

"Collision excess means the specified first amount listed in the rental vehicle agreement that you

have agreed to pay as a result of damage to an Australian registered rental vehicle"

cheers, John

Hi John, Check which master policy the definition refers to, there are three distinct master policies in the plan.
