When I finished of my job and subsequently most of my o/seas flying I had amassed 62,400 status credits, always Platinum or Platinum One but cannot remember the letter only receiving a new card with lifetime gold printed on it.Nothing to say thanks for more a million dollars worth of flying with us?

Essentially that was the intention of my question, I have been flying a significant amount for the past 10 years (Platinum for about 8.5 years). I recently lost Platinum and I believe there should be a reward for reaching LTG in addition to lifetime membership, e.g. same privileges to Platinum regarding lounge access both domestic and international.

While keeping lounge access would be very nice, that sounds more like lifetime platinum than lifetime gold!

When this question came up a while back, I suggested that a reasonable compromise would be reduced qualification for platinum - at most equal to platinum renewal. Even better would be for them to set the platinum qualification at the same levels they apply for gold. So you still need to do a bit of of travel, but not much.
