I just moved back to Australia after living in the US for a decade. I had a great Platinum AMEX Delta SkyMiles points earning credit card but those points are pretty worthwhile these days. So I want a new Aussie credit card that earns Qantas Frequent Flyer points since I'll probably be flying with them more again.
- Where is the best place to compare all credit cards side by side (other than here at ABT)
If I was starting over again from scratch I would go for one of the combo deals with an Amex and Visa/MC on the side, just too many surcharges creeping in to some places to cover the cost of an Amex sometimes and some places not accepting it at all, best of both worlds.
I think anything that pays more than 1 point per $1 is good. Your final choice will then depend on the annual fee, points cap, excluded transactions, other benefits, etc as they apply to your personal circumstances.
there is no best card. you need to be constantly applying for new ones and closing old ones, taking advantage of signup bonuses. the banks show customers no loyalty to their customers by constantly downgrading the points per dollar earnt so you also need to show no loyalty to any one card.

The AMEX Qantas Ultimate or the Qantas Premier Titanium card both have the highest earn rates of 1.25 points per dollar.

IMHO, the best balance is the Westpac Altitude combo. You earn 0.75/1.25ppd on MC/Amex respectively, uncapped.

Easiest is just to go to Qantas website. It'll list all the QF earning cards and their sign up bonus with the latest offer.
