Im regularly through San Fran on my way to DC. Qantas seems to do a range of codeshares with Alaska.

I think you have to be on a one world connecting as well, and besides there is an Alaskan lounge. The codeshare may not cut it.

The requirement for lounge access is that the flight must be OneWorld marketed and Operated. As Alaskan is not part of OneWorld this is why you would have been declined.
Thanks for the answers that explains it.

You do, however, have access to the Alaskan lounges at LAX and SEA. And from 2020, there will be an Alaskan lounge at SFO!
