Does anyone know the current status of renovations at the Qantas Business Lounge at SYD International T1?
Considering linking a pass for a flight next week (QF23) but will reconsider if the lounge is still under renovation/lacking in capacity (Particularly for a morning flight).
Appreciate any updates and/or feedback on your experience in the lounge recently.
Renovations haven't even started. I wouldn't waste a pass on that lounge. In the mornings, it will be extremely crowded with sub-par food and beverage offerings.
They should fix up the domestic business lounge before they do any more work on another lounge anywhere.
All of the provincial capitals (Brisbane, Perth etc) have nice shiny new lounges, while the Sydney domestic lounge looks like something from the 1990s. At this rate Darwin will have a David Caon makeover before Sydney gets decent amenities.
Word is that due to the possibility of a new international pier at Sydney Airport, they have been holding off upgrading the existing lounge.
The old Amex one?
No. A whole new pier off the existing terminal. A new part of the building that doesn't currently exist. ET says that the AMEX lounge will be a Plaza Premium lounge.
If a lounge takes 18 months on average to build - a whole new terminal will take at least 5 years. Wouldn't it be worth renovating anyway in the current space? The new terminal is a âpossibilityâ.

Have you seen Hobart's Qantas Club? It's a disgrace!
