I flew CX J Melbourne to Manchester in October last year. Very pleased with all the flights (and the Pier of course). I will use them again soon as the first leg of a Finnair ticket.

CX is suffering and now with the coronavirus I wouldn't transit it HKG! Agree the First Pier is lovely and probably the best thing about Cathay these days ! I switched to SQ and Star Alliance and saw the light !!!

I wouldn't use them these days because of the coronavirus !! I never thought they deserve 5 stars compared to the likes of SQ, ANA and a few others not on that (in)famous Skytrax list. Seats OK/comfy, the food has always been terrible in my 10 years of flying them , a lot on regional flights ex HKG and sometimes to SYD. Crew robotic, flights soulless (some months ago JFK HKG) … and now suffering due all these problems, losing money. Agree with everyone the Pier First is their best feature. Whats wrong with TG or QF direct? I would add a few more bucks for the convenience and probably better experience. I have switched to SQ , they are consistent and offer a lovely experience

Having flown Cathay a few times this year in Business and having been a Marco Polo Club member for 17 years, I have a few thoughts. First of all, while the service on average is not as warm as I remember on my first flights, CX is still going well. Good hard product, good food and the world's best lounges. To top that off, on my last flight from New York to HKG, the FA was able to make me a negroni. I've never had that on QF... The only airline that is consistently better is SQ.
