Yes, complain by all means but don't expect any recompense.
I find it disgraceful that points upgrades to business PER MEL are the same for the A330 or 787 genuine business suites vs the very ordinary “business” seats on the ageing 737, which are not even up to the 787 premium eco in my opinion, but that is what it is.
Totally agree with your opinion on 737 business class seats.
QF Have been flying QF922 and the return QF 923 on A330'S to Cairns for over a year, since the use of A350 and Dreamliners made A330's available for domestic routes. But as Cairns is highly reliant on International Tourism which has crashed, and since the introduction of some restrictions on Interstate travel, the demand has crashed.
Interesting quote that "the domestic Business class A330 product is Too good for domestic" - clearly there's a difference in the class of service offered on the A330, and the standard domestic business class product that the CEO accepts/expects.
So then, is not the answer to re-classify - differentiate between A330 business and other business offerings? One clear path to that is the re-introduction of Domestic First. Designate the pointy end seats of the A330 as First, then market, price, and manage them as such; with a pre-defined and automated process to handle partial refunds or rebates in the event of a downgrade of class of service necessitated by aircraft substitution.
After emailing QF Customer care just before Covid - 19 took hold in Australia and politely expressing our disappointment at the aircraft change we were offered 5000 pts each in good faith for the inconvenience. So it turns out it was worth the effort to voice our disappointment. Had I known that the world and QF would have been turned upside down with Covid-19 pandemic I would not have raised this with them. I think we've all had a reality check and learning to focus on bigger issues. Stay safe everyone.
I used 30,000 Virgin points to upgrade to "The Business" from Sydney to Perth. I got a text message from Virgin while I was waiting to board that they'd changed aircraft. I still got one of their four business class seats on the 737-800, and they refunded me 15,000 points.

Airlines have always treated their customers with disdain and are sure not to change
They think it is a privilege for us to enter the aircraft
