I had to transfer out a lot of Amex points due to their devaluation in 2019. I roughly split them between Cathay and Singapore thinking it would be easy to use them within 3 years. I've noticed that a lot of airlines have extended the usual expiry dates due to Covid. Is anyone aware of rumours or plans for Cathay to do the same? For those of us who made purchases for years based on our belief that there was value in using points for flying business class but knowing the value of spending those points on other things was poor, this is potentially a big loss if the expiry is not extended.
I spoke to them most recently as last week about this, and their advice hadn't changed since I asked at the start of the pandemic as well, no extension of points unfortunately, which is extremely disappointing for an airline like CX.
