Losing status credits is a right pain, but with just national travel there's no way to attain and/or retain the upper levels. A trip from the east coast to Perth achieves 30-40+ credit points while that to the US 90-120+ (both depending on the class of travel). I guess I'm just going to lump it as even if travel to foreign lands is possible, what's waiting at the other end? Depending where, it's potential exposure to covid-19. Maybe I'll go to Hobart or Cairns, and wear my mask on the plane, whether or not it's mandatory.
It is possible to retain the upper levels. Under normal circumstances ie 2019 and for about 8 years prior I retain platinum travelling only domestic and most of that on the Dash 8 in Qld.
