It’s great to be returning to the wonderful Qantas domestic business lounges. Appreciating the thoughtful COVID updates to food and drink service. Especially pleased to discover a simple request to the front desk in Brisbane gets the lounge TV channels changed. So I can now enjoy a nice QC break without the irritation of Sky News. I invite other QC guests to join me and get Sky News turned off.
Well, we all have different, sometimes strongly-held, opinions but my personal belief is that Sky News has the best daytime news coverage in Australia (in the evening it's a very different beast, of course). The problem is those appalling infomercials that they show during their ad breaks. If those ads don't make people change channels, nothing will.
I don't think they can change TV channels as 6pm because Sky loses the plot, so they should use a different channel all day. Problem is ABC is just press conferences and professors these days so too far the other way.
I agree, Lets get something a little more appealing to everyone like Fox News from the USA on the TV, and I can still watch Sky News on my tablet as well, best of both worlds.

And what happens when another guest asks them to turn it back on?

"A little more appealing like FOX News".... You are hilarious!
Sky news where the content is all like its namesake. full of air up in the clouds without anything close to grounded reality. One thing about the VA lounges when flying was still a happening thing, is that they did sometimes have abc news24 or anything else but airy Sky on.

The polarised content on Sky News now starts at 5pm rather than 7pm. I'm sure there'll be a point where Qantas decides it's not worth the risk to its brand of having the channel on in the lounges. Most advertisers have now left the channel, particularly in the evening. Why would Qantas risk sticking with it, when the risk outweighs the benefit?
I wonder if there's some sort of contract in place with Foxtel, given the high flying clientelle that frequent the club. If you get access to the top of town surely theres a business case in there.
Also agree that the brainwashing opinion pieces start at 5. Anything before that isn't too bad. Sky News UK is far more sensible.
Just have ABC on one side and Sky News on the other side of the lounge or bar. Everyone can choose their preference, and everyone can enjoy their TV in peace. It's supposed to be a relaxing lounge after all.
No need for safe spaces and cancel culture. A Qantas lounge is for all different customers, not just you.

Always thought the idea was to have written news feed on electronic display board from ABC news balanced by sky news on TV..... LEFT vs RIGHT
