Does anyone have any intel on when Qantas is planning to open the Qantas Club again? I've had two flights out of Melbourne in the last week where there were literally no seats in the Melbourne Business Lounge and a 20+ minute wait for coffee each morning.
I get that reductions in capacity were necessary for Covid and that a lot of people got status extensions but as someone who is travelling in Business and would have retained my status regardless of the assistance it is a little galling to have to decamp to the food court while people who pay a few hundred bucks p/a for a Qantas Club membership are hogging the facilities.
I can't imagine why anyone would be booking flights during the double status credit promotion when there is effectively no difference between Gold and Platinum at the moment and Platinum members are receiving 600 status credits gratis.
I was in the Business lounge in MEL last Thursday and saw that there was a sign outside the QC lounge saying that it was welcoming back travellers from Thu 1 Apr, just in time for the Easter rush I suppose.
We know that access to our lounges is an important part of your
journey, and we’ve now re-opened most of our Australian domestic
operated lounges. However, due to the recent state and territory
specific restrictions implemented, there are some temporary measures
in place which include lounge capacity restrictions, physical
distancing requirements and changes to our food and beverage offerings.
Our reopened Australian domestic lounge network includes:
Qantas Business lounges: Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney
Qantas Club lounges: Adelaide, Alice Springs, Broome,
Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Darwin, Devonport, Gold Coast, Emerald,
Gladstone, Hobart, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Launceston, Mackay, Perth,
Sydney, Tamworth and Townsville
Chairmans Lounges: Adelaide, Canberra (Monday - Friday), Perth, Melbourne and Sydney
The following lounges remain closed until further notice:
Qantas Club lounges: Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Port Hedland and Rockhampton
International lounges: Qantas International First and
International Business lounges and all international lounges operated by
partner airlines for Qantas passengers.
As restrictions begin to ease, we will look to increase lounge
capacity and enhanced service offerings, providing you with the Qantas
lounge experience you have always enjoyed. We appreciate your continued
patience and understanding during this time.
Qantas Club membership renewals are currently unavailable.
Flew MEL-SYD in business on 17 April and the QF club was still closed. As a consequence the Business lounge was overcrowded, noisy and filthy. Reminded me of the horrendous BA lounges at Heathrow.
Begs the question: Does QF see nothing wrong with devaluing its business class offering to its most valuable passengers?
