Hi all
Quick question which I hope isnt too silly. I sometiems find the Qantas/Emirates partnership a bit hard to navigate.
If I am flying on a Qantas ticket (and Qantas plane) to the US using my QFF number but hold Emirates Gold status, will I be able to use the Qantas Business lounge at Sydney prior to departure and on return?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, as an Emirates Gold member you'll be able to use the Qantas International Business lounge in Sydney on departure if your flight has a QF or EK flight number. You won't have access to the lounge once you return as there's no lounge access for arriving passengers at Sydney.
For your return flight before the flight, lounge access depends on whether there's a Qantas operated lounge. Generally speaking, this only means the Qantas flights from LAX to Sydney/Melbourne (as they depart from the TBIT terminal - the QF flight to BNE doesn't/didn't). However, there may be an Emirates lounge you can access.

Thanks for your help.
I am flying back from New York with a stop over in LA so will certainly jump into the one at LAX.

Personally I rate the EK lounge higher than the QF Business lounge. You could do a comparison yourself ofcourse, but in general food and beverage in the EK tends to be more high end, as the lounge serves both business and first class passengers, whereas QF obviously has a seperate lounge for F class passengers and Plat members and above (or Oneworld Emerald).

I will try and arrange it so I have enough time to check out both.
