Does anyone know what Virgin's position is on this policy which is being adopted by all other Australian carriers? Hopefully they will follow suite - otherwise I for one will be giving VA a big swerve.
You'll be onto your 3rd booster jab by the time the skies open up around Australia, and probably your 5th booster jab by the time you can go on holiday overseas. I mentioned this all a year ago.
I've heard only Qantas has adopted this policy so far. Perhaps others have also signed up, there are after all only a handful of domestic carriers in Australia, but I wouldn't be getting excited. Like GoRobin states, you'll probably need a new booster shot every 6-9 months or you're not going anywhere, if this plan takes off.
At the current rate, even if you agree to take 10 booster shots and get daily swab tests for a week, your pre-Covid freedom isn't coming back. Look at how Phuket and Singapore are treating vaccinated arrivals - 4 swab tests (one pre arrival, one on arrival and 2 more during your stay) are required. This is the benchmark for what travel (if it's allowed) will look like next year at least across Asia-Pacific. Expect some form of mandatory hotel stay for the first few days of your arrival, except if you're a resident.
Australia has proven itself to be an authoritarian country and will certainly impose similar requirements, at least at the beginning of reopening.
You only need to have a good indepth look at what is happening in Israel to get an idea of how this may pan out in Australia. I won't tell you the situatiion in Israel because I will probably be accused of spreading mis information! So just take a look for yourself. It could be worthy of an article by ET too?

You're a bit of a 'prophet of doom' . Cheer up mate. The skies are already open around Australia. Yes you need an exemption for some but they're open. I've enjoyed flying to Hobart, Sydney and Perth from Brisbane in the last three months. Great fun. I enjoy my half-full glass!

Makes sense to have all airline staff fully vaccinated
Protects them and the passengers
Boosters are a small price to pay for keeping this virus under control

I won’t set foot in a plane unless all the people waiting on me are fully vaccinated.
