Dear New Mint,
1) QFF Points
Earning QFF points (QP) is a function of i) The distance flown in miles (D), and ii) The booking inventory rate of your flight (I). F(QP) = D x I
To obtain the distance flown for your sector, use the BA Flight Calculator (Google “BA Flight Calculator”). Select “Economy (Lowest)” and “Blue” Tier options to get the base miles for that sector. The good news is that BA also calculates distance flown in miles.
Booking inventory rate for BA on QFF is straight forward: All mileage accruable fares are accrued at a rate of 1, except booking inventories designated as discount economy, namely G, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S & V. The rate for discount economy is 0.25
So if you fly SYD/SIN on BA in booking inventory Y, you will earn 3916 x 1 = 3916 QFF points
If you fly SYD/SIN on BA in booking inventory V, you will earn 3916 x 0.25= 979 QFF points
Now if you were to fly in a premium cabin, you will earn a Cabin Class Bonus on top of the QFF points calculated above. They rate of accrual for Cabin Class Bonus are listed below:
World Traveller Plus (WTP): 10% extra QFF points
Club World (CW): 25% extra QFF points
First: 50% extra QFF points
2) Status Credits
Status Credits are earned on all BA flights booked in booking inventories that are mileage accruable. The accruing of Status Credits is also a function of the distance flown in miles and the booking inventory of the flight. Qantas has published on its website a table of miles and the corresponding Status Credits earned for the different booking inventories. Rather than looking for a specific booking inventory like Y or J, Qantas has categorised all booking inventories into 4 groups; Discount Economy, Economy/Premium Economy, Business and First. Google “Qantas Status Credit” and you will find this table.
So for the example of SYD/SIN on BA in booking inventory Y, you will earn 60 Status Credits
For SYD/SIN on BA in booking inventory V, you will earn 30 Status Credits
And SYD/SIN on BA in booking inventory J, you will earn 120 Status Credits
For your reference, as published on the Qantas website the BA booking inventories are as follows:
First: A & F
Business/CW: C, D, I, J, R
Premium Economy/WTP: E, T & W
Economy/WT: B, H & Y
Economy/WT: G, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S & V
Hope this helps!
