Do QF codeshare flights (booked QF4220 sin-sgn) operated by jetstar asia (3K) booked in "o" class earn status credits?

I believe you will not earn Status Credits under the conditions you have described. The Qantas Airline Earning Table states that O booking inventory on Qantas but operated by a Jetstar airline is not points accruable. Consequently no Status Credits can be accrued. Points and Status Credits is accruable for QF4220 SIN/SGN if booked in B, H K & Y.

Further the fine print on the Qantas website says the following, "Status credits can be earned on flights operated by Jetstar Airways where a Qantas flight number is entered on your ticket when booked in Y, B, H, K or W class"

A better option for you is to book with Jetstar Asia directly under "Economy Starter Plus" or "Economy Starter Max". Both types would earn Status Credits an Points. However be aware that if you are connecting from a Qantas operated flight into SIN, you will not be able to check through to SGN during check-in for your Qantas operated flight. You will need to go through immigration at SIN and re-check for the SIN/SGN sector. The staff at Changi Transfer Lounge C will also not be able to assist you (learnt that the hard way!)

So if you decide to do it that way (because frankly its cheaper) make sure you give yourself plenty of time at SIN to go through immigration and check-in. If you have access to the Qantas lounge, you will be relieved to know that QF4220 departs during the operating hours of the new QF SIN lounge.

If on the other hand, if you've worked out the cost of either option to be the same, then it comes down to option A) Convenience or B) Status Credits for the SIN/SGN sector (15 Status Credits). It is a shame that Qantas has not thought through this and is be able to offer both. So much for an Asian strategy!

note you will only get QF points and status credit on a 3K booking if you take the optional Plus or Max Bundles.
