Batik Air launches direct Melbourne-Kuala Lumpur flights
The Malaysian airline formerly known as Malindo will fly non-stop to Melbourne over the summer season.
Batik Air will begin direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne over the peak summer 2023-2024 season.
Running four times a week – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday – the non-stop flights will supplement the ongoing daily service via Bali from 20 December 2023 through to 6 February 2024.
Travellers will make the eight-hour trip on an Airbus A330 with 12 angled business class beds – aka ‘sloping sleepers’ – and 365 economy seats.

- Batik Air flight OD176 will be wheels-up from Melbourne at 6.45am, arriving into Kuala Lumpur around 12.10pm
Although a Malaysian carrier, Batik Air is part-owned by Indonesia’s Lion Air Group, with its former name of Malindo reflecting this dual heritage of Malaysia and Indonesia.
