Plaza Premium to close Hong Kong Airport arrivals lounge

Plaza Premium’s arrivals lounge at Hong Kong International Airport will close in early November, leaving one of Asia’s busiest airports for business travellers without a lounge to visit ‘on arrival’.

A spokesperson for Plaza Premium Group – which operates the world's largest network of independent airport lounges – confirmed the closure to Executive Traveller, saying that pre-paid reservations online, as well as walk-in guests, will be accepted for visits up to and including November 4, although the 'official' shut-down date is November 5.

Beyond pay-per-entry visits, the lounge also welcomes travellers with Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass cards, AMEX Platinum and Centurion Charge Cards, selected Diners Club cardholders and more. These guests can continue to access the lounge until its closure, in line with their usual membership plan or card entitlements.

Open 24 hours a day, the Plaza Premium arrivals lounge is a particularly handy port of call where inbound travellers can freshen up with  a shower and a light meal, especially after a long overnight flight.

This move follows the closure of what was the nearby Cathay Pacific arrivals lounge in 2018, making way for construction works at the airport ahead of the migration of all airlines from Terminal 2 – where this arrivals lounge is located – into the main Terminal 1.

Cathay Pacific is considering the possibility of opening a new arrivals lounge of its own at Hong Kong Airport, but not until at least 2024, after those airport construction works are completed.
