PHOTO TOUR: stylish Mandarin Oriental luxury hotel suites, Paris
Paris' Mandarin Oriental has unveiled its sumptuously decorated suites, following the hotel's opening earlier this year. If your budget swings to it, especially if you have the time to enjoy them, they look absolutely stunning.
The Mandarin Oriental Paris is located at 250 Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris' upscale 1er Arrondissement, also home to the Louvre and the Tuileries gardens.
It's perhaps not the ideal location for business, but if you have some leisure time (or you're getting an earful about seeing Paris from your +1) then it's hard to beat.
Premier Suites come with their own leafy, semi-private terrace -- a real luxury in the heart of Paris:
The cool greens of the terrace suites give way to more vibrant scarlet and magenta in the Premier Atelier suites. (And there's the Eiffel Tower, in case you'd forgotten which city this was.)
The Broderies de Cristal suite takes a more burnt orange theme and has French doors (what else?) opening onto a rooftop terrace.
But the Royal Mandarin suite's rooftop garden terrace has to take the prize:
Even the regular rooms in the hotel are stylish yet functional:
With 138 rooms, the hotel "combines Parisian sophistication with art deco details and oriental touches".
We really like the fact that the hotel has cleverly gone for some colour in its furnishings: no "various shades of beige" or "minimalist monotone" here.
The rooms and public areas like the lobby are designed by Sybille de Margerie, with overall building renovation by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
