Introduction
The reasons travellers return to Bali again and again are endless, from culture and cuisine to nightlife, spirituality and immersive wellness. And if there’s a neighbourhood that delivers on every single one, it’s Seminyak.
Positioned opposite the waves of its namesake, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach is the ideal base from which to enjoy this vibrant coastal playground and the wider island’s many charms… or simply retreat for the duration of your getaway.
Location & Impressions
From the outside, you could easily assume the hotel was limited to a mere handful of pools, a block of rooms and a very stylish waterfront restaurant – yet there’s so much more.
Enveloped by lush gardens, the 4.7-hectare resort boasts 289 rooms, suites, and pool villas, with the latter positioned towards the rear of the property for maximum privacy. These are complemented by a day spa, 24/7 health club and an impressive five outdoor pools.
If your idea of a Hotel Indigo is a stylish city hotel, you'll be pleasantly surprised by this property, which is the first resort Hotel Indigo.
While there’s no kid’s club onsite, there are numerous activities to keep kids entertained.
Beyond the walls of the resort you’ll find everything you might need in close proximity, from retail to restaurants and an endless mix of beach bars on the sand directly outside.
Room
Our key unlocked a One Bedroom Pool Villa – a private sanctuary spanning an impressive 300 sqm and home to a generous living room, dining pavilion, day bed and kitchenette.
‘Spaciousness’ was no doubt the design brief of this room, particularly in the main bedroom area, which contained a comfortable king-size bed fronted by a seating area, alongside a huge bathroom with double vanities and a soaking tub.
Decor skirted the line between traditional and contemporary, with several nods to Balinese culture throughout plus high windows flooding the space in natural light and views of the tropical plantings.
Rounding out the features were a 49” television featuring unlimited pay-per-view movies and a Bluetooth sound system, Nespresso coffee machine and minibar. There was also a juicer to make your own morning kickstarter (oranges and limes provided free of charge).
Adding to the convenience, particularly for families, was a gaming console on request.
Eat
Dining was a real hallmark of this hotel. Every meal we had from room service (available 24 hours) to modern Japanese to breakfast was excellent.
Hotel Indigo Bali boasts no less than six eclectic dining options, including all-day restaurant SugarSand, south-east Asian hotspot Makase, and the striking Tree Bar cocktail venue.
Buffet breakfast was served in Makase and comprised a broad array of international fare, including the usual suspects of omelettes, pastries, salads and fruit, together with Indian and Chinese staples. Additional and special options could be ordered á la carte.
While definitely worth a visit, I’d recommend going early, as the buffet gets quite busy.
Alternatively, make your way to Sugarsand, which dishes up an extensive breakfast menu and gorgeous outlook to the beach.
Pairing your morning meal and coffee with the sound of waves crashing in the background is a beautiful experience.
For dinner at Makase, we opted for a tasty assortment that included sweet and sour fish served with longan, lemongrass and pineapple; a crispy soft shell crab with green mango, and chilli dressing; and the pork bao buns with spiced vegetables and sambal.
Each dish was sensational.
Relax
Despite having a private pool within our villa, we made sure to visit the hotel’s other pools for a dip. The one at SugarSand quickly became a regular favourite (outside of main dining times, as it’s very exposed) thanks to the outlook to the beach.
If you’re in need of some pampering, make sure you visit Sava Spa, where the menu ranges from facials and reflexology to indulgent half day rituals that include hot stone massage, a private yoga class, afternoon tea and a foot massage in the Zen pool area.
A calendar of daily events means there was no shortage of things to do, with the majority of these options free of charge including cycling, aqua stretch, Muay Thai and mat pilates, in addition to paid activities such as vinyasa yoga and tai chi.
Cooking classes, make-your-own cocktails and latte art tutorials were available too.
Verdict: Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach offers a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and convenience. Its prime location, exceptional service, and top-tier amenities make it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a family holiday, this resort provides an unforgettable experience in the heart of Bali.
