Scoot offers Sydney-Singapore business class fares for $321

Singapore Airlines' low-cost offshoot Scoot is unleashing another deal ahead of its June 6 launch, with 'ScootBiz' business class tickets now on sale for $321 one-way for flights from Sydney and the Gold Coast to Singapore.

(Flights from Singapore to either city are also up for sale at S$321, which comes in at A$244.)

Both prices include taxes and surcharges, and are on sale now through FlyScoot.com for travel from July 3 to October 27, 2012.

Looking for photos and details of Scoot's economy and business class seats? We've got 'em!

ScootBiz seats

We'll be the first to point out that Scoot's business class isn't on a par with what you'd usually expect to see at the pointy end of an international plane. It's more akin to the regional business class found in Asia and Europe, or international premium economy.

In fact, the 38 inch pitch and 8 inch recline is on par with the premium economy offerings of Qantas, Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific.

That's no surprise, given that the seats chosen by Scoot for are premium economy seats designed by German firm Zim (shown below in this generic catalogue photo from Zim, although you can expect a much better colour scheme for the seats and cabin as well as the installation of an integrated footrest and an AC power socket for each seat).

There are 32 of these leather-clad seats nestled into the ScootBiz cabin at the front of Scoot's Boeing 777-200s.

Other creature comforts included in the ScootBiz fare include:

  • preferred seat selection
  • fast-track check-in at Scoot's dedicated ScootBiz counter
  • priority boarding
  • up to two free meals, with drinks, depending on the flight
  • 15kg or two bags of carry-on baggage
  • 20kg of checked luggage
  • an iPad 2 preloaded with movies, TV shows, games, ebooks and digital editions of magazines for in-flight entertainment
  • a comfort kit on overnight flights

Scoot's flight schedule

Scoot's Sydney-to-Singapore flight TZ1 will leave each day at 12.50pm for wheels-down into the Merlion City at 7pm.

The TZ2 Singapore-Sydney leg leaves at 2.10am for an 11.40am arrival into Sydney.

There will be five flights per week out of the Gold Coast – on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

TZ5 will leave the Gold Coast at 9am and reach Singapore at 3pm, with the return TZ6 departing at 10.25pm and reaching the Gold Coast at 7.50am the next day.

I wonder what Scoot's policy is if a plane goes tech... e.g. a Saturday OOL-SIN? Will they bus everyone up to BNE and put them on SQ? Or do a Tiger and wander off saying 'try again Monday'. Interesting times ahead.
