Brisbane will be home to a new W Hotel from early 2018 when the luxury chain re-enters the Australian market.
Located on George Street, guests will enjoy views of the Brisbane River amidst the city’s main business and financial hubs.
Guests staying in its 280 guestrooms, 25 suites and the ‘Extreme Wow (Presidential) Suite’ can access a 24-hour business centre, plus a spa, gym and indoor heated swimming pool.
Business travellers have over 960 square metres in which to conduct meetings, and can unwind or entertain at an all-day dining restaurant, Pool Bar and the W Lounge.
W Brisbane will become the second Starwood property in Brisbane following the newly-opened Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane.
Members of the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program can earn and redeem Starpoints at the hotel, with top-tier members enjoying perks such as free room upgrades and in-room Internet access.
Fourteen new W Hotels will also appear in the Asia Pacific region of the next five years, including in Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and Jakarta.

Hi Peter,
The last W Hotel here in Australia was the W Hotel in Sydney Woolloomooloo which became 'Blue Sydney - A Taj Hotel' in 2005.

$32 million? Seems cheap! In that location you'd think you could buy it, convert it to apartments, and flog 'em off to make a motza.

Peter,
The first W Hotel outside of Noth America was on the 104 year old Finger Warf at Woolloomoloo in Sydney. I worked there for 2 years from 02-04, it was very hip and funky and very Sydney, whilst retaining a fantastic interior. Check out: https://getaway.ninemsn.com.au/fsaustraliansw/sydney/17068/the-w-hotel
This is since been taken over by the Taj Hotels Group and is now call Blue Sydney.

I still remember the old Brisbane Sheraton, back in the day, above Central Station.

I love the W downtown Manhattan when I'm in New York. Just sampled W Hong Kong. Nothing like a New York vibe, but still impressive.
