InterContinental Sydney Double Bay hotel opens this week

Standing at 140 rooms, the new InterContinental Sydney Double Bay hotel opens its doors on Thursday following a multi-million dollar refurbishment of all guest rooms and public areas.

Originally the Ritz-Carlton Double Bay hotel in 1991 and later migrating to the Stamford brand, the new property features a rooftop pool and lounge for unwinding on work trips or for a simple holiday:

Business travellers can visit the Club InterContinental Lounge with an attached French provincial courtyard, and can attend conferences in a 300 seat pillar-less boardroom.

An on-site business centre provides the expected amenities such as photocopying, printing and fax transmission, with in-room internet free for all members of IHG Rewards Club.

Non-members can choose to join the program at no charge during their stay to get connected, or can pay a flat fee of $25 per day to browse the Web.

The Stockroom Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, while you’ll find rare and vintage gins at the hotel’s Stillery bar:

Along with free Internet access, IHG Rewards Club members enjoy their usual perks such as late check-out (where available), free room upgrades for Platinum members and the option to earn IHG points or frequent flyer miles.

The new Double Bay hotel joins the InterContinental Sydney in the New South Wales capital to become the fifth InterContinental in Australia, with special opening rates from $390/night including breakfast for two from November 6 2014.

The IC Double Bay isn't really in the CBD, so I'll put it out here that to get there by public transport, the bus to take is a 324, 325 or 326 from the City (Elizabeth St).

Alternatively, it's a 10-15 minutes walk from Edgecliff railway station.

Likelihood of this happening though @watson374?

I honestly wouldn't rule it out! People do things like take the Piccadilly Line to T5 to fly off in First, and there are worse things you can do than take a Watsons Bay bus.

Very true. I stand corrected.

P.S. I quite enjoyed that pun!

Can't believe their top suite sells for $5,500 a night! That's a lot considering its outside the CBD.

Tastefully decorated though.

It always seemed like a ridiculously inconvenient location to me. The only time I ever went there was my Year 12 formal.

Mind you, I'm a north shore boy, so the whole of the Eastern Suburbs is just this bizarre and unnavigable wasteland in my mind.
