I have a business tickets MEL-BKK-HND bought on points on QF website so printout says "Qantas E-Ticket Itinerary & Receipt" . First leg is by Jetstar in their "business" while second leg in JAL in proper business. Question is - would I have problem in Melbourne to visit QF business lounge? Unfortunately no fancy status.

Am not 100 % sure, but worth a try.

Though the QFi J MEL lounge is in the "basement" with no windows to the outside, they use curtains to make the room look ok.

For a first time visit, I guess its ok for you to give it a try.

Have not done your routing, but have flown with QFi out of MEL several times in the past 10 years, but have been with QF since 1997.

I think you'll have a problem getting into the lounge. The fact that it's a "Qantass E-Ticket" is irrelevant. The Jetstar website says: Business Class passengers who haven't purchased a Max bundle don't receive access to the lounges, unless the lounge is a Qantas Club lounge and the passenger is a Qantas Club member.

I been there many times but usually I flew QF or CX or JL proper business and thus there is no issue. However once upon time I flew MEL-BKK with JQ in business and I do not even remember how I get tickets - for money or for points, but it was QF tickets, not JQ. They allow me to enter though saying that I should not be allowed.

I have suspicions that you right. But then it is truly sux because on my ticket issued by QF clearly stated that it is business ticket with third party carrier being JQ. Therefore it should be governed by QF rules, not by JQ. I guess that in nutshell I like to know if anyone been in such situation recently.

Does your ticket show a QF flight number (codeshare) or JQ? If it's QF then you should have all the conditions of a Qantas flight.

Thanks for input. No, it saying JQ. This is always the case with classic rewards - they say JL, CX, BA and so on even if corresponding codeshare exists. Going to call QF few days before flight unless I will manage to replace that tickets with proper business and preferably direct flight.

Just another attempt by qantas to cheapen the whole experience. Non transparent with such things and convoluted. One would think given you have QF e ticket in business event hough your boganstar airlines you would still have access to the pre departure QF business lounge. But not QF.

Look here: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/qantas-experience/at-the-airport/airport-lounges/qantas-lounge-access-eligibility.html

Bottom of the page, the only jetstar fare which is listed to give any lounge access is "Jetstar Business Max Fares"

The footnote is the problem isn't it?

https://www.qantas.com/au/en/qantas-experience/at-the-airport/airport-lounges/qantas-lounge-access-eligibility.html#jetstar-disclaimer

Qantas should just clarify lounge access rules for JQ/3K/GK/BL flights. Having customers asking advice and debating about lounge access rules on forums like ET shows that there is indeed confusion, and it is an indication of communication issues/failures from Qantas.

If FF Gold and above have access to Qantas lounges regardless of the class of travel and fare types being bought, then say so clearly and update the website and that problematic footnote.

If FF Gold and above indeed only have access to Qantas lounges when buying Business Max fares (which are only sold on specific routes, btw), then make an announcement of some sort, and stop selling the lounge access benefit (when flying Jetstar) as some sort of Frequent Flyer benefit for Gold and above, because most people would not spend money on Business Max fares, unless they have to.

Cannot agree more - they should CLEARLY print lounge accessibility on their "E-Ticket Itinerary & Receipt". This document has 8 or so pages and all of them pure rubbish except first page.

An update. They (Qantas) send me two complimentary lounge invitation to fix this problem. I never talk to then in this regard. As least a solution.
