Do you think Qantas will still offer double status credit promotions? My way of thinking is that they won't in an effort to cull the number of FF reaching higher status, the way I did.

Yes, they will, at some date in the future. When that is will be a matter of supply and demand, which only Qantas knows about. From our perspective, it will be offered only a week after we book an international flight!

I'm not sure being at the mercy of Qantas' whims is a sustainable strategy.
Personally I'm too cynical to appreciate these types of promotions. I find it particularly repugnant, that they bait you with an offer and keep you wanting on their terms!
Chrisor, if it is your intention to secure a higher status, best be prudent and work on the assumption of the worst case scenario. A benefit is only worthwhile if you can enjoy it for the long term - You can't miss what you never had to begin with!
A long term strategy that reconciles your travel patterns and budget is the best way forward.

The last two times have been around May/June if that helps. (not sure if it attracts more business flyers to pre-book flights before EOFY)

I made the mistake of booking far too in advance of a trip and so missed out on double SCs. I think the best strategy for getting double SCs is to book a month of so before a trip in the hope that they become available, however that might result in missing out on a discounted fare.

I'm constantly frustrated that I've never recieved one of these offers - I guess it's the price I pay for loyalty.
Obtaining over 2,500 SC every year for the past 4-5 years, I'd love to use one of these offers to get to P1, but I've all but given up hope in being targeted for a double-up offer.

I have received a few of these offers over the past couple of years and took them up on the offer earlier this year to make gold, as you say Phil, we want to book a trip to New York next year but don't want to book too far in advance if we may miss out.
The only benefit I want from it now is to assist to stay at gold. We'll book anyway, but probably a lot closer to the departure date.

Agree with Charlieg, they have come out the last couple of years around May/June which works well for me as my date has fallen at end of August.

sdwylie: have you checked that your QFF account has the box ticked to say that QFF may contact you with relevant offers etc? I've been told that if that box isn't ticked then you won't get any 2SC offer. As it stands, I've only has two such offers in the past many many years, and there often appears to be little rhyme or reason which we can fathom as to who gets chosen!

Agree with David, the couple times I have had the offer sent to me was after I had my biz class round the world booked. Obviously to entice me to travel more I guess.
