We sort of have more than enough. Now we have Air Australia trying to gain some market share so nah we dont need any more. What other airline do you think australia needs? Judging by your name does it mean that you want to bring back the good old days?:-)
I would like to see an Australian international airline, although I know this would not be successful. Qantas is cutting international routes, and Virgin is choosing partnerships rather than expanding its international network. QF International is not profitable, and is propped up by the domestic services.
However, I'd still really like to see an multi-hubbed international.
A network that sees flights from BNE / SYD / MEL / PER all land at the same time into SIN / HKG / KUL / PVG / BKK, allowing transfer to a further four destinations each. Provides a total of 20 further destinations in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
True, there are huge oppurtunities awaiting airlines in perth, you have possible african, european (would be nice), and asian routes. Not to mention the growing demand in FIFO charters from Perth, uncompetetive intrastate services (WA), more routes from perth to east coast ,maybe even hobart and more flights to gold coast, eliminationg traditional hubs like melbourne. Also is the opportunity for routes from Perth to BNE, MEL, SYD which raises both the potential for an LCC or even full service carrier to start up in australia.
I think a HBT to PER flight would be a good idea basically because it would be good to fly direct, but how would it be justified? Would there be enough passengers? Perhaps virgin should start doing 6 - 7 HBT > PER flights a week. So u think?
