Which airlines have seat-to-seat chat in Economy? That means, you type something on your seatback screen and the message shows on someone else's - read from the Herald that Jetstar 787 has this function, but how many other airlines do?
Air Canada is introducing seat to seat chat in all classes on it's Boeing 787s when they get delivered from next year. Emirates has seat to seat chat in all classes on it''s Airbus A380s, Most Boeing 777-300ERs, Boeing 777-200LRs & Most Airbus A340-500s. Jetstar has it in all classes on it's Boeing 787s. Qantas has it on it's Airbus A380s and Boeing 747s in all classes. Virgin Australia has it on their Airbus A330s and Boeing 777s in all classes. Hope this helps! :)
Seat to Seat chat is standard on the Panasonic eX2 inflight entertainment system, used by VX (in your example given), EK (ICE), QF and VA as well as a range of other airlines. VA disabled chat on their RED entertainment system, after some passengers abused the ability to chat to anyone onnboard. Now its only available to those who opt in. VX on the other hand went down the opposite path and allow you to buy a stranger a drink.

It started funny, but just got worse..
If they were real chats it would be funny, not some made up banter. And as for Row 49

Do you think an airline would ever install seat-seat Tinder, grindr, blendr etc.

I think it's a great idea, as long we're prepared to cope with bathrooms being occupied for longer... /cough
