Departing LAX flying to MEL on VA24 next week. The flight departs at 11:40pm. What is the latest time I should be at the airport? (bearing in mind I am Platinum and am in J class). Is it quick to clear customs in LAX e.g. is their a priority lane?
You only need to factor in clearing security and checking in, as leaving the USA you do not pass through any sort of passport control, only entering the USA.
You could really just turn up in time for your bags to be checked in, you don't really need to be there 2 hours early - that is of course unless there is no priority lane for VA at LAX (which I am not sure of sorry)
Agree with Merc25, get there early and relax in the lounge!
This is US security we're talking about, remember - the rules or enforcement could change at any moment and leave you stuck stressing in a huge queue. Early is good.

There is one. It is not well policed and is usually just as long as the other lines. Although usually through in < 30 mins.
