Is there a way to meet a passenger at the gate as they disembark the aircraft at LHR T3 if you have also recently disembarked from a different flight at LHR T3. I'm always rushing to get to immigration and have failed to study the layout.
I know the feeling, I've had to 'replay' recent arrivals in my head to try and see what scope there might be for meeting up with somebody. And by memory there's that long initial walk from the plane into the airport so at some stage there'd be what you could consider a 'gate' area of sorts, but it might be easier just to arrange via SMS (when you each land) to meet in the main customs/immigration processing area? Or even baggage reclaim?
Yes it might have to come to that. What I find most perplexing is the design of the place. You really are like a mouse in a maze. No shops to distract you, the doors of the gates, indiscernible seem to magically open like the platform to Hogwarts express; just the effortless sense of passengers being channelled through to the goal of immigration clearance.
I'm quite disappointed at how unaware I've been. They design of the place has totally played me and I've succumbed.
Something to look forward to as I disembark next time!
Yes and No. It depends on where the person you want to meet is disemarking compared to your own gate. I know that they use the multi-levels to keep depatures and arrivals seperate, but like you, the point at which you go up and/or down changes.
Probably best to just meet them at the UK Border, if you can.
Thanks LondonAussie! I think that is the way to go. I just hope a PIA flight isn't landing at around the same time. It can get pretty festive inside and beyond the baggage carrousel!
Question: How many people should meet a passenger off a flight?
Answer: Never too many!
