If you ban high-viz then might as well close the Perth Domestic Lounge then. 

Couldnt do that would be a safety issue when they arrive on site.

I hadn't counted on being taken seriously.

I personally have very low regard for any dress code in any setting.

Who cares really? As long as people don't smell like a garbage tip and don't have 5 inches of plumbers crack showing I couldn't care less what others wear in the QF lounges or VA lounges.

Will it also be gender un-biased, where both men and women are afforded a decent level of casualness?

Because in the office on Fridays, half of the office is "casual Friday" while the other half is "very casual-indeed Friday".

No shorts? Ridiculous. This is Australia, not... some place that people don't wear shorts.

I don't have a problem with thongs either. Thongs are holiday wear, and aeroplanes are things you take to get to your holiday.

I have been known to go straight from the beach to the airport and shower and change at the lounge.

People will die if they have to wear pants only especially in the summer when it easily gets to 31+ everyday, although still not as worse as India or Dubai.

I did read in the West a few weeks back they were having trouble with Jetstar passengers loading up with food at Perth international lounge before boarding.

But what can they do if someone turns up in shorts, tee-shirt and thongs and they are flying to Bali? and they have qantas club or flying business.

I dont mind so much as long as they are drinking and getting too loud.

Flying to Hamilton Island from VA lounge in Brisbane. It's almost compulsory to wear thongs, boardies and a singlet. You are landing on a tropical Island. 

I've worn (nice) thongs in many a QF lounge without issue, including my recent Sydney F lounge visit on my way to Bali.

I think Qantas are looking for us to use that long forgotten social skill of common sense. Dressing appropriately is a simple means of showing respect to your fellow club members. I don't think the bar is set too high here. Certainly no mention of mandatory suit ties and dress shoes. But some people do enter the club in dirty or inadequate amounts of clothing. Personally I find blokes in singlets pretty off-putting. From a safety perspective alone I would have thought thongs shouldn't be allowed for any passengers, whether entering the club or not. In case of an emergency exit a sensible pair of shoes will be pretty important. Just two things I would put on a list of 'don'ts'.
