I know this has been asked before but are there any other options than AMEX ( 1.5% cost and only 0.6 FF points per dollar doesn't stack up, even when you tax deduct the card fee - costs me about $0.011 per ff point) I have used my maximum allowable via HSBC and Citibank no longer award FF points for ATO payments.
I havent had to do it this year, but i use qantas cash at aust post previously, but that only works if your bill is less than $3,000. it would net you .5 FF points, and because it is a debit credit card it doesnt normally attract the credit card surcharges
I've had this same thought a few times and the best answer I can see is the free Qantas or Virgin Australia cards through American Express.
There's no annual fee ever, (so no administration,) and 1 point per $1 spent on every purchase. The only downside is the welcome bonus on the Qantas card is a little fiddly. It's 5,000 straight up then 2,500 after your first Qantas related purchase.

Perhaps look at Westpac's altitude cards. it has uncapped points per $1 spent, although i think it will only mean .75 FF points per $1 spent
