I just completed a VA survey and it got me thinking. Obviously international network can influence your decision, but which airline is your domestic go to? And why?

VA without any doubt.
I don't like the arrogance of QF who think they are the " Lords of the Sky " and think they are the best .
They are quite good but VA is always way better IMHO.
The staff at VA are really friendly and the inflight service is top notch.
I have flown Business Class with a lot of Airlines and reckon that VA is well and truly as good as most.
The link with SQ is great , FF points transferrable and SQ is such a good Airline in every respect and it makes it nice to use VA Domestically to link up with SQ for onwards travel. They leave EK for dead !!! so no point in using QF for that reason alone.

I agree with Rod. I made the switch to Virgin Australia a few years back and have not regrated my decision. Also with the international locations I fly to (USA and SE Asia) the links with Singapore Airlines and Delta really does suit me. Always friendly staff, comfortable planes (I fly Economy thanks to cost cutting managers!!) and rarely have a delayed flight

QF without a doubt. I fly VA for work regularly and have never felt recognised as a customer or had a good customer interaction. QF has never let me down.
Each to their own I guess.

I have stuck with Qantas at this stage because they are the only one that service many regional cities. Many of my friends who travel mainly between capital cities and larger centres have switched to Virgin though, mainly due to easier targets to obtain and maintain gold status.

I have no real preference, but my aesthetic tastes lean towards Virgin, and I've always had good customer service from Virgin. Not that Qantas is bad or anything.
But seriously, for domestic J-class I see them both as more-or-less interchangable. Virgin looks better IMO but I seriously don't care massively.
So I'm neutral with a slight lean towards Virgin, but its more out of habit than anything. Both are perfectly competent airlines.

Both are hugely good at what they do. Compared to "domestic" carriers in the U.S.A. and Europe they are both head and shoulders above. We are lucky to have the level of safety, comfort and service they offer.
