Preferences for rental car companies in Australia.? Trying to weigh up advantages of which program to stick with. Have rented with Europcar, Hertz, Avis, and have Platinum tier Frequent Flyer with both Qantas and Virgin Australia. Approximately 40-50 rentals per year, which rental car provider gives the best benefits?
I use Europcar, Hertz and Avis too. I have membership with them all. Europcar is often cheaper at airport locations and they have Mercedes C class which I like, and Pajero which I like when a 4wd is needed. Hertz is good and Avis seems to have slipped a bit. The key is to have the right status to avoid the line for pickup! I also choose vehicles that are model guranteed, not "or similar". Avis doesn't seem to have many of those.
I use Europcar as do prefer their range of cars and price is always pretty good. Also don't forget with your Velocity Platinum membership you get Europcar Privilege Elite membership
My response is a little off-topic because I know you are asking about rewards schemes. But no matter what rewards were offered, I would never use Europcar. I was stung badly once with supposed damage. If you look at the product-review site, you will see similar stories. Perhaps they target people like me who only rent a car occasionally – and may treat regular customers better. I wouldn’t risk it, however.
