I am trying to get to Beijing and am a Qantas FF. If I book a Cathay Flight through their website, will I still be able to earn points and status credits?
Also do you earn points and status credits with Dragonair?
You earn status credits and points on all OneWorld flights including CX and KA. Note that for CX and KA, you earn only if the fare type is B H K L M V Y in economy, E R W in premium economy, J C D I in business and A F in first. Well it's almost all of them except the deeply discounted and the award ones.
A One World flight is a flight with a OneWorld logo next to cabin door. :)
Thansk everyone...just got to Beijing, to Guijian, and Hong Kong with a 3 day layovver for two people for $8500 bussiness all the way! THanks Qantas and Dragon Air!

Yes if you book through the CX website you will earn status credits and points. Not sure about Dragon air.
Best to check the QF website first

On Cathay or Dragonair you would earn 550 points and 15 status credits in Economy on that route.

This will tell you how many points you would get.

It does not matter with whom you book; it does matter with whom you flight (with caveats like Emirates).

have you thought of flying with qantas? cathay will stop in HK anyway as will QF so you will end up on the same KA flight from HKG to PEK.

Dragonair is a great little airline - I've flown them to PVG several times.

Have flown them several times, and would be one of the better 'little brother' airlines
