The New Qantas Inflight Safety Video - Your Thoughts?
Qantas has launched a new inflight safety video; see here - http://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/media-releases/australia-takes-centre-stage-in-new-qantas-safety-video/
Like it or hate it? What are your thoughts...
For mine, I like it. Showcasing our country and using real locals vs celebs, sports stars, or novelty angles (like Hobbits) is done.

Well, each to their own. It's the most boring longest safety video I've ever seen. Obviously Qantas are catering to cashed up bogans these days. Think it should be somehow streamed to 'Economy class' only, I don't fly Qantas, and can imagine some shrinking violets up in First Class and possibly Business, and even some of those that have managed to save up for Premium Eco watching and listening to that drivel. It's the casual approach that's just so cringeworthy Australian, I'm sure half the passengers wouldn't even know it was the safety message. I'll stick with my Emirates safety videos, even if English is the second language.

I didn't like that one, personally.
I was a big fan of the Sports Illustrated Bikini one, before the feminists got it banned. [Deleted by admin - inappropriate language.]

There's no place for that kind of language here, Hugo. Your post has been edited to remove it in line with our comment policy.

Hi Chris, any reason this didn't get put in news section of this site? Seems odd as many other airlines who have innovated in this way have been published on AUSBT?

Hi Charles, good question – we've moved away from covering things like safety videos and aircraft liveries to focus on articles that have more impact on the business traveller, be they news, more reviews of flights/lounges/hotels/tech/credit cards, practical travel tips and so on.
However, things like new safety videos will still be shared via our Facebook and Twitter feeds from time to time (including the Qantas safety video which we posted about this week), so be sure to follow us on social media so you don't miss a beat.

I think it's brilliant. Doing exactly what Qantas the national carrier should in promoting Australian tourism. But I'm sure the usual Qantas bashers as per above will say differently.

Agree its a bit too long.
But love all the locations and the real world examples (yoga and luggage in particular.
Quite a few new statements (eg lost electronicdevices) as well

It's certainly different and a little out of the box, but are travellers really expected to sit up and pay attention for 5+ minutes on every flight as the video fluffs about through Australians and Australian destinations rather than getting the safety brief over and done with? I normally watch the crew or screen out of courtesy when the safety demo is happening, but a video this long and drawn out will probably change that.
