Hi fellow FFs, I may have to fly to London in the next few days. Normally fly on J and on SQ; this time have to pay myself. Any idea of good deals right now? I notice Qatar have a biz promo till tonight, any other suggestions? Thanks.

Etihad also has up to 50% off selected business class fares until 13 April.

I have found Qatar to be excellent. Especially enjoy the A380 experience - the bar is a great place to sit and relax.

If you're paying yourself and want Business Class, then Royal Brunei is usually the cheapest.

Just keep in mind that Royal Brunei is a 'dry' airline and serves no alcohol on board, but there are reports that passengers have been allowed to consume their own (but which would be confiscated at the next security liquid check if >100mL and not already consumed).

I'd go Royal Brunei or Qatar. Both good options.

Malaysian Airlines are doing two for the price of 1 in J (on sale until the 18th) if you're going with someone else as well.

Vietnam Airlines also worth considering. The Australia to Vietnam sector will be on an older style "sloper" seat, but the longer section from Vietnam to London will be on a B787 with the new fully flat beds in 1-2-1 layout. And all for around $4,500 return in J class

Except for the 8h25 layover in SGN on the outbound trip and 12h on the inbound.

And you will need transit visas given the length of the stopover.

If you're paying for it yourself, go Royal Brunei. If someone else is paying, Qatar.

You can fly cheap business with Finnair. BKK-LHR-BKK put you back for about $3400 and you can fly cheap enough to BKK by Jetstar Star class. IMHO excellent combo, I love Finnair service and new seats in J and Star class is pretty fine during day flight, though food could be dreadful. On way back from BKK you may try to book J on points. If you choose this option then book flight back in such way that you can have as least 4 hr in Helsinki – they have exceptional sauna there, priceless before flight.

Good Luck.

9h25 in Jetstar "business" class - yikes.

You have to try it before being so snobbish. Seat is spacious enough and comfy enough, though as I said food could be not the best. BRW booze is fine. I would not say it is ideal for overnight flying (BKK-MEL), but indeed it fine for day fly. I been using this combo (Jetstar + Finnair) quite a few times and will do it again without slightest hesitation.

Thanks to all for your inputs.  I opted for QR, they had a business promotion and the travel times to LON are very good.

One observation re departures:  it appears there is no more fast track at passport control for business class passengers?  Is this so?  I was sort of told off, asked for my express card and told that this is no more but applies only for crew and people with prams.
