Still newer and quieter than the remaining 747-400s left in service, though never thought of the 777 as a noisy plane. Believe SQ only have six left and these too will soon be on the way out!

To clarify - the 747s are with airlines such as Thai and Qf, not SQ!

I fly both types to and from Melbourne regularly (at least once a month) in J and Y. Yes its true that the new ER cabins are much nicer but even the older 300s are not a disaster when compared with many other airlines. The remaining 300s range in age from around ~9-14 years (again not ancient compared to many airlines). Melbourne is not necessarily being treated worse than other Aus ports. SQ us using the 200ERs with similar products to both SYD and PER and the 330 product (very similar to the 777 300) is in use on most if not all Aus sectors.
