Hmm - I would love to be wrong but I don't think you will get access at SFO.  Looking at Velocity website only Virgin America flight you get access to is in LA not in SFO.  Does your flight have a Virgin Atlantic flight number? Then you might be OK.  Will be interested to see how you go.

I flew LAX-ORD 2 days ago in first class with Virgin America and no issues. Am Velocity Platinum. Bigger issues getting into Delta.
