Yes, London City isn't an airport meant for hanging around in... It's for business travelers who come in from The City and can check in very close to departure, so as I recall apart from the odd special waiting area used for the flights to New York, this is a 'turn up and fly' proposition.
You may however be given a £10-£20 voucher to spend in the terminal, mainly WHSmith and I forget the coffee shop.
LCY is a dream airport, so compact and efficient. Almost turn up and go and just a short DLR or taxi from The City or the wharf. It really is the model which Canberra Airport should have based itself on.
My old boss would prefer to travel LCY-CDG or LCY-ZRH then connect onwards rather than cross London to LHR for a direct. Can't wait to be back there in August myslef.

There are no actual 'lounges' as we know them at London City.

I think the only 'lounge' was for the passengers boarding the NYC A319 flight which looked more like a waiting area?

The beauty of LCY is that you don't have to get there too early. So you don't really need a lounge.

Spot on, it's like a regional airport.
