I've just been told the Qantas First Lounge rennovation in Singapore has been cancelled. Any opinions on the best lounge I could get into flying First as Platinum One?

I understand that is correct, QF will only have a business lounge in SG from next year, however recent reports say BA will be opening a First Lounge in SG next year too.

JBH has pretty well summarised our recent articles on this (http://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-to-scrap-first-class-lounge-at-singapore and http://www.ausbt.com.au/british-airways-to-open-galleries-terraces-first-lounge-at-singapore), and at the moment that's the most recent official word... so for flying QF First / Platinum One, you'll have the Qantas First Class lounge at Singapore until renovations are finished and it's Business only, unless BA goes ahead with its own lounge... I'd suggest you check out Cathay Pacific / Skyview lounge, which is down the other end of T1 – see http://www.ausbt.com.au/cathay-pacific-skyview-lounge-singapore-better-than-qantas-ba.

Just be aware of the restricted access to the Cathay Pacific lounge in Singapore as it is a contract lounge. Even though there's a oneWorld Sapphire logo, Sapphire card holders won't be admitted if on another airline, even if travelling in business class. No problems if an Emerald though.

Hey TonyG, unless you are actually an official representative of BA Executive Club I think you might want to change your username here, lest people think you are an airline rep?

Sorry, that's completely incorrect — I've been in there a half-dozen times in the last two years when flying other airlines in business class. If you check the oneworld lounge finder page and search for Singapore, you'll also note there's no "Operated by a third party on behalf of:" next to the CX entry.
(Interestingly enough, looking at that page, when I flew Finnair business, the dnata premium check-in staffer directed me to the Qantas-BA business lounge instead of the one that's officially contracted!)

I would never waste my time at the Cathay Lounge in Singapore - it is awful. It doesn't even feel like a proper lounge, with most of it located out in the airport atrium. For whatever shortcomings there are stick with the Qantas Club. Also with Malaysian joining One World at year's end - there will be another option to check out.
