A friend of mine who works at Eva Air had mentioned that their European expansion is the current priority, but they are looking at Sydney, which is currently only served by China Airlines (codeshare with Qantas.)
Having flown both, I can easily say that Eva Air has the superior product. I'd want them to fly to Sydney.

Even though QF is mainly interested in Mainland China (through partnerships.) there's a business case for flights to Taiwan, as they are a world leader in technology and manufacturing. The Taiwanese are establishing themselves as a global powerhouse. I reckon a daily A330 or a 5 weekly 777 with the right (ahem, competitive) business class, they can easily fill their flights.

I flew BNE-TPE-CDG, returning AMS-TPE-BNE, which turned out to be much better than I thought. I had an overnight flight to Taipei and then a full day sightseeing before another overnight flight to Paris. So I arrived in Europe feeling no jetlag, it just felt like a normal new day. Had the same experience on the return. Not convenient for overall travel time, but then again, I did not lose any work time because I needed to recover from jetlag either. Service was impeccable and could not be faulted, even with the Hello Kitty decor on the flight to Paris. This is great news as it frees up the possible travel windows which has restricted me booking a repeat.

"Even with the Hello Kitty decor on the flight to Paris..."
You survived a flight on the Hello Kitty services? You didn't go insane? You don't wake up screaming after having nightmares of Hello-Kitty-shaped foie gras and Hello Kitty toilet paper? You don't double-check your pillow for fear its suddenly morphed into the pillows from the Hello Kitty jet? You don't still have to go to therapy after enduring ~10hrs of Sanrio brainwashing at MK-Ultra-level intensity?
(note to the humorless: this was meant to be a funny post. I'm sure EVA's Hello Kitty services are absolutely survivable and perhaps even quite pleasant, and it should be manifestly clear that I do not actually believe someone would go insane due to flying on those jets)
