Is anyone aware why 2 x A380's left Brisbane today? One was to LAX at 1pm and the other to Dubai at 4:30pm. The LAX departure was only 15min behind the delayed QF15 744 service.

That must have costed a fortune! I can't imagine chartering an A380, jeez.

Chartering an aircraft is quite cost effective if you can find enough people to fill the right aircraft, plus factoring things in like Hotel costs/time constraints, being able to make your own itinerary etc..... in this case there were 2 x A380s, so i would presume it was more effective chartering than buying tickets for everyone.

Wasn't this question asked earlier? It was some form of religious group mass-charter?

Apologies, I didn't see the earlier question. Thanks for clarifying.

It was a week or so ago Mark, so not surprised you didn't see it!

I did a quick search on this site but couldn't find it. qantassource.com.au does reference the flights being positioned in Brisbane at the expense of QF1.

No idea who chartered them - wonder how they allocate seats?
