Hey there, I just moved my parents onto EK406 (MEL-AKL, dep 8:10am) in F - their first-ever first class experience!

I was wondering what people's experiences are with getting 'all-day after 11:30am' menu items early. Not complicated dishes obviously, but simpler dishes such as calamari and the like. Any luck? No doubt they'll be there early to sample the breakfast menu but I would like to let them know if there's a bigger variety of options they can also choose from. Thanks :)

Nice work, your parents will be thrilled!

In my experience at Sydney, if it's not too busy and you ask nicely the staff can bring forward some of the 11.30am dishes - and as you suggest, those are the simpler dishes like like the calamari or the buffalo mozzarella & tomato salad... but generally that's been my asking around 10am-10.30am, I suspect that around 7am (before boarding an 8.10am flight) it could be too early. But it never hurts to ask nicely and without expectation.

PS On the standard breakfast menu, I recommend the corn fritters :)

No I haven't yet, but thanks for the link! They're actually flying after the new year so I'll wait for the summer menu article to come out on AusBT :)

No worries, breakfast menu doesn't change much – usually just a few elements of the dishes swapped around to reflect seasonal ingredients.

I've done that trip heaps of times from Melbourne in the old and new Emirates lounge, at that time of day it's Breakfast time, that's what they serve, and it's always impressive. I've never been dissappointed, nor have I seen anyone be served anything else other than breakfast.
