There is no anytime lounge access (this benefit was removed in 2011). You must be travelling on an eligible flight for lounge access.

A Platinum One can use the QF Lounge at the MCA at Circular Quay anytime, with a guest. From what I hear, it's a pleasant little retreat, but nothing like a real lounge.

That's the MCA Lounge, which has nothing to do with Qantas lounges at the airport which by context is what I'm assuming the OP is referring to.

You can access the domestic lounges any time they're open, even if your're not flying, provided you have access.

Hi flychrisfly, that's incorrect. As per Qantas' website for the domestic business class lounges:
Eligible Qantas Members
Platinum One Frequent Flyer: Must be travelling on any flight the same day that shows Qantas^, Emirates^, Jetstar Airlines+ or a oneworld operated and marketed flight.
Two guests allowed and do not need to be travelling.
('Anytime access' to Qantas lounge is perk for Chairman's Lounge members only.)

To be honest, i've gone in to the domestic lounges a few times when not travelling while dropping friends off... I just flash my card and look as if i'm flying, and i've been let him. A lot of the lounges only look at the card and don't swipe your card when flying domestically.

I've done that in a lot of airports as well, but don't try it in the Perth business lounge. They always swipe your card on entry, so sadly the flash and dash doesn't work.

I find the Business Lounges sometimes swipe in Syd and Melb (Hit or miss), while most of the Club lounges hardly ever swipe.
