I know CX103/146 flying between HKG-CNS-BNE and back, but when I try to search the result, it didn't show up CNS when type in BNE as departure city on CX website. Anyone have booked solely between BNE-CNS or other way round (without sector to/from HKG)?

Cathay Pacific do not have the freedom rights to carry passages solely between BNE and CNS.

Cathay doesn't have domestic traffic rights. Nor does any other international airline as far as I know. Maybe with the exception of Air NZ with their RPT Norfolk Island flights.

I just wonder why Cathay bother with domestic sector, since they fly TPE-ICN/FUK/KIX/NGO/NRT, YVR-JFK and DXB-BAH and be able to sell thickets in those sector solely.......

Those are all 5th freedom routes, not domestic routes, for which regulatory approval is generally easier.
I can only suppose they operate BNE-CNS-HKG for the most obvious reason - that it makes economic sense.

It does not make any sense. You don't load any passenger between BNE and CNS and just wasting empty seat on this sector.

Perhaps they don't expect to sell every seat BNE-HKG, but they might fill a few more of those empty ones by stopping at CNS and picking up any takers. Route has been operating for quite some time, so I presume they know what they're doing.
Do they have the right to carry HKG-BNE-CNS? That is, letting HKG originating passengers out at CNS after the stop in BNE?

Or, separate the route into 2x HKG-CNS and 11x HKG-BNE weekly, like what they did on HKG-ADL-MEL, separated into 4x HKG-ADL and 21x HKG-MEL, but HX are giving them some hard time by opening HKG-CNS-OOL.

I've been on this route a couple of times. The demand is for folks from Brisbane going to HKG and beyond that don't want a god-awful departure/arrival time, and is also for Asian tourists going to CNS. Almost empty to moderately full BNE-CNS, packed from CNS-HKG.

I recently flew on the HKG-CNS-BNE in business class and it was pretty full on both legs, one person I was speaking with said a lot of people fly into Cairns or Brisbane on Cathay then after a few days there do a domestic Qantas or maybe Jetstar leg between BNE & CNS then fly back to HKG so they can combine both destinations without having to backtrack to BNE to go home

What I said, separate the route into 4x HKG-CNS and 7x HKG-BNE(with 777) weekly. But HX J are only bit more expensive than CX W.

So just to clarify, the restrictions on CX are even stronger than QF on their LAX-JFK sector? Afaik QF aren't allowed to pick up purely domestic passengers for that sector, but you are allowed to stop over at lax for a few days after arriving from Australia on a QF flight then go to jfk on qf107 (or whatever the code is).

Correction: SYD-LAX-JFK is QF11/12.
