I'm at QF BNE Int'l Lounge right now and it is 10am on Sat morning. I know it is peak hour with several QF flights departing at similar time, but the space is literally FULL (both levels). I had to circle around 3 times to snap an empty chair. And more are coming in and continue hunting for a seat/table. It is almost like trying to snatch a car park at Westfield on a weekend. Food and service are nice and I like the feel of the new lounge. But I'm just wondering if QF played too safe and should have made the space much bigger. Perhaps there are no better/bigger space available at the terminal?
There's very little if any space available for a larger lounge...Air NZ were hardly going to give up their departures level spot (though a three level Qantas lounge would be really cool!). Elsewhere around the departures area there's nothing really left. Most other lounge operators are locked into long term leases and would hardly have any incentive to help Qantas
QF61, QF97, QF15, QF51 - all are A330 or B747 - all have to operate as morning flights to optimise fleet and schedule demands plus with the exception of QF61 the other three are very busy business routes which means a higher chance of QC members and Gold+ QFF's. Add in partner airlines who have access to the lounge and mornings are just busy...
For what its worth, when I catch QF125 to Auckland in the evening, the place is a ghost town!

A 3~level lounge would have been really cool in theory. But I guess it is what it is now.

Has anyone moved into the old Air NZ space on the lower level?
