If you look at the booking site for the new PER LHR direct flights, it says the meals offered will be dinner, and refreshment. On an 18 hour flight? Are we all going to starve? What's that all about?
You clearly haven't flown on a Qantas International flight lately. Late last year when I flew Singapore to Brisbane they walked through the cabin roughly every hour offering snacks.
The Dallas to Sydney flight is also 17 hrs 5 minutes and I've heard no report of anyone starving on that flight despite the website saying one meal and one refreshment.
I'd expect dinner (given 6.50pm departure from Perth) and breakfast (given 5.10am arrival into London) and quite some snacks available between. Big fan of the hot chocolate!
I think three meals is reasonable...Now I'm thinking maybe dinner, then a sleep, then breakfast then again breakfast? ie a 'refreshment' mini meal and then breakfast since we're arriving early morning? Anyone else want to guess or tell me about other long flights' current offerings?
So given the nature of the late night departure out of PER I'm assuming there'll be a "supper service" (basically the same as a full dinner except there's no bar service before mains in J and tea/coffee are offered immediately after service during rubbish collection instead of as their own service in Y).
Midway through you'll get a snack in Y, probably something like a panini or a pizza or something. On-demand snacks / light heated meals avail in J and W.
Full breakfast a few hours out of landing in all cabins.
GIven the desire to maximise sleep time I'd say it's unlikely there'll be another light snack, but i'm sure they will be coming through with fruit, ice creams, water etc throughout the flight. I'm sure they will be trying to maximise sleep as much as possible!!

When I said 'starving', I didn't actually mean that passengers would perish. I would appreciate information from anyone willing to be helpful.

The indications on the site are almost never accurate. I'd imagine two meals and ample light snacks.
