has anyone noticed that all flights to Europe from Melbourne after the new QF9 starts make you go via perth and LHR and then code share you on a BA flight. what the hell qantas? now everyone has to take 2 stops to go anywhere in the EU (other than LHR) ??
Wow, you are right. That is terrible for Melb passengers. I've also just noticed, from March 2018, if you plug in MEL to LHR, once you scroll down past the QF9 flights and get to the options via Sydney on QF1, they are feeding you onto EK11 which goes to London Gatwick not LHR. I can't find any options to LHR except on QF9 (which is much more expensive) on the dates I looked.
Don't worry. Emirates have only released their flights until the 24th of March (go to the EK website and use the calendar to see far ahead they are) hence the searches will only result in Qantas and BA flight appearing at this time. If you wait a couple of weeks all the normal Emirates flights will appear again once emirates start allowing bookings for April.

seems like a big downgrade for melbourne people
Really? Is QF and BA making up? That's excellent news!
I just had a look at flights for 24 March 2018, and there were codeshares on EK in the mix. This does suggest its a timing issue with what you are looking at. Maybe people aren't used to looking at flights so far out?
Flight load times. Depending on the airline and GDS used, there is a limit as to how far ahead the flights are loaded for sale. QF has 353 days ahead. EK likely doesn't. (eg, AA has 330 days out). Wait a few weeks until EK flights are loaded, then QF can apply their codeshare.
The current QF/EK partnership is authorized until March 31 2018. I can't find anything requesting an extenstion.
Hi Guest, join in the discussion on

I've been doing a few searches even within the next few months and almost all results are having 2 stops
